Common Small Business/Creative/Entrepreneur Questions //

One of my favorite things to do on Instagram is to invite others to ask questions they have about running their business/creative world! It’s so important that we all live in community rather than competition and continue to sharpen and learn from each other. Below, I’m sharing some questions & answers from my most recent Instagram Q&A in hopes that it inspires and informs your artistic week.

@msgingersnappp: How did you start your own business and was it scary at first? What was the process like?
@rachaelleephoto:  It is SUCH a long story, and you’re making me realize I should do a blog post on just this question! 🙂 simplified, I actually came out of the most difficult season of my life. My marriage had just ended, I had no idea where I would live, no money, and no idea what the future would hold for me. I dived in head first with a very “start before you’re ready” mentality. It was definitely scary putting myself out there — not necessarily a fear of failure, but a fear of the unknown because I really had no idea what I was building for a while!

@momies55 : When you’re a small fry and trying to make a big leap how do you reach out and trust? Business world is unknown to me and overwhelming. …I don’t want to make a wrong turn or get screwed yet I find myself becoming stagnet. Btw love your photo captions!
@rachaelleephoto : That is a really great question. I think it really does come down to radical belief in yourself. I have always worked with a sort of “start before you’re ready” mentality. Do we need to work and prepare? YES. But we are all small fries at some point, and it really just takes leaps of faith. I also feel that what has helped me a TON is having a community of other small business owners who are further along in the journey to inspire and encourage me.

I really like MOZ! It’s super user friendly and educational! They really simplify and break down the SEO process.

@thekiaraana : Oh man I have so many questions!! Do you have a time management strategy that has really worked for you? I often feel so overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to do…
@rachaelleephoto :I am actually super old school and find that lists are SUPER gratifying for me. It helps me to make lists for each day of the week and only allow a certain number of manageable tasks for each day. I find that setting realistic goals helps to not get so overwhelmed and defeated 🙂
