Who I Am

“When I lose my way,
And I forget my name,
Remind me who I am.
In the mirror all I see,
Is who I don’t wanna be,
Remind me who I am.
In the loneliest places,
When I can’t remember what grace is.

Tell me once again who I am to You,
Who I am to You.
Tell me lest I forget who I am to You,
That I belong to You.
To You.”

-Jason Gray, Remind Me Who I Am

Last night, I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the very first concert in the Son of God tour, where Natalie Grant, Meredith Andrews, Francesca Battistelli, Jason Gray, Sidewalk Prophets, and Chris August.

Being a girl who’s been living and working in Hollywood for 5 years, it was overwhelmingly beautiful to see these extremely talented people using their gifts to glorify God. It gave my heart such warmth and hope.

Imagine worshipping God with the most incredible worship leaders and beautiful voices ever! What an amazing experience it was. Reading the lyrics above got me thinking about how many times we lose our way and blur our identities as young women.

I know what culture may think about me, what a casting director may think, and how the film industry may want to define me. But it is crucial that we find our way back to the basics and never forget who we are to God.

When you look in the mirror today, do you see:
Flaws
Imperfections
Failures
Depression
Anxiety

Or do you see yourself as:
Beautiful
Beloved
Marvelously made
Strong
Confident
Lovely
Classy

When the world tries to put a mask on the true you and alter your beautiful identity, remember your name. Remember your purpose. Remember where your home is. Remember who you belong to. Remember who your father says you are.
