5 Tips for Feeding Your Soul

Wednesdays always leave me with mixed emotions. Feeling like much has been accomplished, but realizing that there is still much more work to be done.
Sometimes in life, we just need a little pick me up. When we stop feeding our souls in the midst of crazy, busy, everyday life, we can become drained of all our joy.

I’m going to share a few of my soul’s favorite things (don’t worry-not raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens). These things are simple, but help to fill my days with beauty, joy, and life.

1-Read a good book.
Keep your mind filled with new knowledge, stories, and enchantment. When my brain is entertained, my soul isn’t quite as drained.

2-Enjoy a cup of tea.
No matter how busy my day gets, I always set aside a few minutes to sit in a comfy chair and enjoy a hot cup of tea. It has been proven that the warmth of tea soothes & relaxes the mind, body, and soul. (My favorite is lavender Earl Grey).

3-Get out of the house and find your little oasis.
When I’ve had a super busy week, I always try to find an hour to get out of the house and do something that’s not work related. I’ll go to my favorite cafe (Aroma in Studio City), and just sit outside, enjoying the weather, ambiance, and hot cup of coconut ginger green tea. After an hour there, I feel better equipped to take on the rest of the week.

4-Soul food.
I try my best to stick to a healthy diet. That being said, we were made to enjoy life. We don’t need to splurge daily, but once a week, indulge in a treat that brings a smile to your face (and to your tummy).
“Seize life! Eat bread with gusto. Drink wine with a robust heart. Oh yes-God takes pleasure in your pleasure!” -Ecclesiastes 9:7

5-Fill every nook and cranny of your life with scripture.
Having God’s word surrounding me is a constant reminder of what is true. Scripture fuels my soul and keeps me going, even on the worst days. Frame your favorite bible verse. Write a verse in lipstick on your mirror. Maybe even keep an important reminder bible verse on a piece of paper in your pocket. Surround yourself with the living word.

Happy Wednesday. Feed your soul. Don’t allow yourself to get drained. Surround yourself with your favorite things.
