That not-so-lovely picture above is an area right behind my apartment complex. People just dump trash and all sorts of unpleasant items there. It’s overgrown, unkept, and not a very scenic route to take while walking my dog.
A few months ago, I saw this girl slaving away in the hot sun for hours…gardening. At first, I thought she was crazy. I didn’t understand why she was putting so much work into an area that no one is going to appreciate or take care of.
As time went on, this unpleasant, trash filled area became more and more beautiful…because she cared and took the time. Now, there are flowers, plants, and vegetables flourishing on a piece of land that used to be complete destruction.
Scripture talks about God making “everything new.” I feel like that is exactly what this girl was doing. God can take the most broken hearts, deepest wounds, and devastated areas and make them new.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come!”
