Life is crazy. We have daily battles that we have to fight. The important thing is to be prepared for whatever life throws your way.
Soldiers guard themselves from battle by wearing armour. Armour can shield you from the chaos. One of my favorite metaphors in scripture is in Ephesians 6:11-18 when the verses explain how to put on the “whole armour of God.” I used to be a counselor at a Christian girls’ camp, and I taught my girls a drama skit with these verses. I had the girls put on different layers of clothing as they read the scripture.
What can protect us from life’s wars? Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, God’s word (scripture), and prayer. If we cover ourselves with these things, we are no longer fighting our battles alone.
I went to Forever 21 the other day in a much needed blue-jean search. I always love spending money at that store, because the bottom of every bag has a bible verse on it. It reminded me of wearing the full armour of God, because we have to “cloth ourselves” in what will help us succeed.
“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over you’ll still be on your feet.” -Ephesians 6:13
God hasn’t left us to our own devices. We don’t have to face our wars alone. We have armour…all we have to do is put it on.
