This photo is of Ybor City way back when. Ybor is one of my favorite places in Florida. There is so much history. They still have the trolley system, old brick buildings, antique shops, and I filmed multiple indi-films in that area.
It’s so fun looking at photographs from the past. The places we love have changed so much…and will continue to change. That’s just the world we live in.
One of my favorite bible verses is Job 11:16, where it quotes:
“You’ll forget your troubles;they’ll be like old, faded photographs.”
That sounds nice, doesn’t it? To actually forget your troubles. I long for the day that my current hurts are as distant as this 1940s photograph. Life is full of work, stress, and over-thinking. But tonight I encourage you to take a step back and relax. If we remember that God is everything, what would we have to worry about? If we truly set our hearts on Him, the shadows will fade and sunshine will come through.
I don’t have much to say…except, forget your troubles for a night. It’s contagious. Maybe it’ll carry on to next week, next month, or maybe the years to come. Let’s remember what’s important and learn to leave the past in the past.
“If you set your heart on God and reach out to Him, if you scrub your hands of sin and refuse to entertain evil in your home, you’ll be able to face the world unashamed and keep a firm grip on life, guiltless and fearless. You’ll forget your troubles;they’ll be like an old, faded photograph. Your word will be washed in sunshine, every shadow dispersed by dayspring. Full of hope, you’ll relax, confident again;you’ll look around, sit back, and take it easy.” -Job 11:13-19
