I love you.

I don’t have much to say. Nothing too complex, nothing too deep. I was just reading my bible before bed, basically out of obligation. I’m not going to lie to you…I’m not a perfect Christian. No one is. I don’t always feel like reading the bible. Infact, I put it off pretty often. Sometimes I get caught up in “Rachael mode.” If you know me, you definitely know what that is.
I can convince myself that I know best. I can also convince myself regularly that I don’t need help. But the thing about life is that I can only keep that up for so long. This past week, God has been tapping on my shoulder trying to get my attention. Not literally, of course, but I have felt overwhelmed more than ever.
I’ve been stressed by taking on my co workers hours at work, figuring out how to register for more school, how to afford more school, how to take care of my dog or do ANY school while working so much, etc. I could go on forever. The point is, I felt too busy to make time for God. But the catch 22 of that is it’s impossible for me to handle any of it without Him.
I was sitting here, reading my bible because I felt like I should, not expecting to get anything “moving” out of it tonight because I’m so sidetracked. Then suddenly I read a very simple verse:
“I love you. God-you make me strong.” -Psalms 18:1
This is so short, so simple…however, it was exactly what I needed to remember. God is amazing. His love makes me strong. He has power that gives me strength…but only if I let Him.
I encourage you tonight, whatever you’re going through, to remember how amazing God’s love is. There are MANY verses about God’s love. But what I truly love about this particular verse is that it’s about OUR love for Him. How often do you tell God you love Him? Don’t worry-I don’t say it out loud all that often, either. But how beautiful and empowering is that?
God’s love for us gives us strength. But when we combine it with our love for Him, it’s truly amazing.

  1. I love the way you express yourself–you really have a gift and I want to share it with my Christian friends. You are truly a blessing and teaching and reminding me about God and His love. Thank you so much.
